Governance & Adjudication
Nicola’s governance experience began in 2003 when she was appointed as panel member of the Napier (NZ) Care and Protection Resource Panel. She held this position of panel member until 2005, when she became Chairperson, a position she held until 2009.
In 2014 Nicola was elected to the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of NZ (AMINZ) Council and in 2018 became Vice President. which she held for 2 years before stepping down from Council to pursue work overseas.
Her portfolios included diversity, mediation, education and membership.
Nicola’s adjudication experience began in 2004, sitting on the Review and Client Representative Team for the Ministry of Social Development. Between 2004 and the present day, she has sat on 329 hearings. Not one decision that she has been involved in has been overturned or has been subject to a judicial review. She held this position until 2017.
When Nicola was practicing as a social worker she was on the Independent Expert Advisory Panel for the Health and Disability Commission from 2004 to 2013.
